  • Laura Iesue, Ph.D.

    Dr. Laura Iesue is an incoming assistant professor at Sam Houston State University’s Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. She conducts comparative research on how violence impacts individual and community behavior, including choices to migrate. Her work also evaluates criminal justice policy responses that are aimed at reducing violence.

  • Anastasiia Timmer, Ph.D.

    Dr. Anastasiia Timmer is a professor of Criminology and Justice Studies at California State University, Northridge. She was born and raised in Ukraine and moved to the U.S. to get her PhD degree. Dr. Timmer's research focuses on causes of crime and violence in different countries and mental health of vulnerable populations. Her recent research projects explored the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine including trauma, violence, and victimization. Anastasiia's work has appeared in top tier scientific journals including Nature Human Behaviour, the British Journal of Criminology and Justice Quarterly. Anastasiia is also a public criminologist and engages in creative ways to share her research through screenwriting and performing.

  • Olena Antonaccio, Ph.D.

    Dr. Olena Antonaccio is a professor at the University of Miami’s Department of Sociology and Criminology. Her work focuses on causes of violence, crime, and victimization among diverse populations, and she has extensive expertise in cross-national survey research.

  • Ekaterina Botchkovar, Ph.D.

    Dr. Ekaterina Botchkovar is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University. She is a scholar of comparative criminology whose work focuses on the causes of violent and non-violent crime and victimization in Western and non-Western countries, including Ukraine and Russia
